Rohan Hande, "Untitled no. 2 from the series 'Japan Cabs", 2021'

The serigraph is derived from a digital collage from the series “Japan Cabs” consisting of 8 digital collages and 1 photograph pieced together from the archive of images produced as part of a backpacking trip through Japan. Using the local taxis in Tokyo, Kyoto and Hiroshima as a conduit for attention, the collages juxtapose them against backdrops of missed details, unknown faces and architecture, which may be easily overlooked due to our comfortable existence in our metropolitan environments.

Rohan Hande is a mixed media artist and photographer based in Mumbai. He graduated from the Arts University of Bournemouth. Drawing from his photographic practice, his mixed media works explore realistic constructions of whimsical nature allowing viewers to stop, wait and decipher. His clientele includes Vogue, the Atlantic, Architectural Digest, GQ, Verve, Conde Nast, IBM, Adidas, FILA.
